June 8, 2011 – Don Barrett has been nominated for the 2011 Public Justice “Trial Lawyer of the Year Award.” Mr. Barrett helped obtain a $142 million RICO verdict against Pfizer in March 2010. At the trial, the Plaintiff Kaiser Foundation Health Plan, Inc. presented evidence that Pfizer knowingly marketed Neurontin for unapproved uses without proof that it was effective. Kaiser said it was misled into believing migraines and bipolar disorder were among the conditions that could be treated effectively with Neurontin, which was only approved by the FDA to treat epilepsy. The winner(s) will be announced at Public Justice’s 29th Annual Awards Dinner & Gala in New York City in July 2011.
