Don Barrett Leads Trial Victory in Katrina Case
February 24, 2011, Gulfport, MS – Today, a jury in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Mississippi awarded $1.8 million to the Penthouse Condominium Owners Association in Pass Christian for Hurricane Katrina wind damage that insurer Lloyds of London failed to cover. Judge Sul Ozerden found “no arguable basis” for Lloyd’s to deny the claim and decided Lloyd’s also must pay the condominium owners’ legal fees, prejudgment interest and litigation costs, which is estimated will to be around $4 million. Don Barrett and David McMullan of the Barrett Law Group were lead counsel for Penthouse.
